The Little Rippers Course at X-Train, West Wittering
The Little Rippers Windsurfing course is for kids between the ages of 5 and 7. We have had a lot of fun running these courses and it is great to see such young children getting their first on-the-water experience. There is not much hanging around on the X-Train little rippers courses.
Most of the tuition is done directly on the water. We get them up and going straight away – you will be surprised by the speed of the results!
All of the learning is made easier through the use of modern widestyle beginner boards and very light, soft children’s sails. All of the boards are driven down the beach. The kids carry the small sails to the water with the help of the instructors.
The waist deep, flat-water lagoons at West Wittering beach provide a perfect spot for the kids to be introduced to the sport in a very safe, controlled environment.
The kids are kept very close to the instructors and there is jet-ski rescue on the water.
We provide the kids with everything you need to participate, inlcuding a high-quality, single lined glued and blind-stitched wetsuit and buoyancy aid. We also have a warm, dry club house with hot showers, changing rooms and as much tea and coffee as you want so you can eat your lunch in comfort. In fact, the only thing you need to bring is your towel.
We have a lunch break and regular breaks throughout the course to make surf everyone is okay and warm enough.
All of our instructors are fully RYA-qualified and are hand-picked to ensure you have the best learning experience – plenty of fun whilst still learning!
All instructors carry UHF radios, we have jet-ski rescue and there are life-guards on West Wittering beach in the summer months.
If parents want to, we can provide a wetsuit to help your child in the water. Most of the time, however, it’s best to just stand on the water’s edge and watch them progress.
Parents must be on site during this course for the duration. Bring BBQ food (there is an onsite BBQ), rent a stand up paddle board, we have WIFI, so if you need to work, bring your laptop (we have a warm clubhouse with coffee!)
